Flashback to the 70's and 80;s

Yesterday (thanksgiving 2013) felt more like watching the Packer teams from the 70's and 80's. It's hard to remember a total collapse like I saw yesterday. Sure Aaron Rodgers remains on the sideline but that still leaves 52 others. It was as if the Packers had eaten their thanksgiving dinner before had and were all ready for a nap. Success always starts with preparation and a winning attitude, and keep in mind there are still quite a few players who were part of the Super bowl winning team of 2010. So it's not like they don't know how to win, but it's as if they no longer care to win. This is the same defense that earlier this season looked as if they were starting to turn the corner.

Was it a win or loss?  No it was a tie!

The main missing link

With the absense of Aaron Rodgers to lead the Packers, it just goes to show how the lose of one person can affect a team.  It's hard enough for players to even get into the pros, let alone be one of the top performers.  But the problem for the Packers lies in the number of injuries suffered before and during this season.

Personally I have to question the physical preparredness of the team.  With all the hamstrinp problems especially.  One of the main problems is the players are getting bigger and faster which in turn causes massive collisions between players.

I hope Rodgers makes a wise choice when it comes to returning at the proper time.  As it stands right now even if he did return this season, their chances of making the playoffs or going anywhere if they do make it look remote at best.

I don't know what it will take buy somehow the training regiment has to included preventative measures to help curb the number of injuries.

Tough season this year

Myself like many of you have been spoiled by the success of the Packers thru the Favre and Rodgers years, but now at least for this season the hopes of going after another Lombardi trophy seem remote at best.

The good news is Rodgers should have many successful years ahead of him yet, but this doesn't seem to be one of them.  It's hard for a car to run if the spark plugs are missing and the same can be said for football.  When you core players are hurt and unable to contribute it really makes it hard to just say next man up.

Jim Irwin was a special guy

Living in the South Bend, In area we have had our share of great radio voices over the years, but listening to the Packer games with Jim Irwin and Max Mcgee was something special. Irwin brought reality to the broadcast and told it like it was. If the game was going good they would express that feeling and if somebody screwed up they didn't have any problem getting on them. We'll miss you Jim!

The lessor of two evils wins the Super bowl

No I'm not a Giants fan but I surely wasn't rooting for the Patriots! Hopefully Ted Thompson will find a way to beef up the defense so is the offense has a bad day they can help. In my mind we shouldn't have let Nick Barnett or Cullen Jenkins go! Sometimes a winning football team is like a finely tuned car, you mess with the spark plugs and all of a sudden you have problems. Maybe we should try to trade Matt Flynn for a number of draft choices that we can use to help build the defense back up.
